Failing to Disclose Income Results in Deviation Upward From the Support Guidelines.
Fudging your income when trying to modify your child support is never a good idea as this father found out when the court departed UPWARD from the child support guidelines by $336.00 in the case of Bennett v. Department of Social Services, an unpublished opinion of the Virginia Court of Appeals issued today. The father didnot adequately explain the income of the business in which he had an ownership of interest, did not report his side jobs in his income & expense sheet or the loans from his family, both of which constituted underreported income.
