Virginia Court Lacks Long Arm Jurisdiction Over Father Where Child Born in a Foreign Country.

In the case of Bergaust v. Flaherty, the Virginia Court of Appeals held that a trial court properly dismissed mother’s petition for child support where father never conceived or fathered their child in the Commonwealth even though father acknowledged paternity in Virginia when the child was seven months old.
