Charlottesville Spousal Support Lawyer Rob Hagy: Properly Reserving Your Right to Receive Spousal Support.

In Virginia, a court hearing a spousal support case does not have to award spousal support at the hearing.  The court may reserve for a party the right to receive spousal support in the future.  How do you ask the court to reserve your right to receive spousal support?  The best practice is to specifically ask the court for a reservation of spousal support in the first pleading you file with the court and you persistently ask for the reservation every other time you are given the opportunity during your case.
